Drawing for Mosaics with Sue Giannotti
The ability to draw “andamento” – the visual flow and direction of the lines of tesserae – is key to creating a better mosaic. This excellent course will cover the basic rules of drawing andamento and will take a historical look at how different tesserae shapes and interactions have been used to obtain various visual effects. Through a variety of exercises, focusing on drawing tesserae and andamento, students will reinforce their understanding of the techniques covered. The andamento drawings will remain the property of the students. No mosaics will be made in this class. This is an essential course for those looking to improve their skills in one of the key and distinguishing traits of mosaic.
