Mosaic III Intensive Workshop (was Direct Method Workshop)
Working directly on thinset mortar is one of the best techniques for creating many mosaic projects on a small or large scale, and on flat or 3D substrates. During this 3-day workshop, students explore these techniques by creating three separate studies. Students learn to work in sections by ‘dividing’ their design (cartoon) and creating work using a thick mortar bed for their tesserae. Topic discussions include: different kinds of thinset and their properties, transferring a drawing, coloring mortar, the correct thickness of the mortar beds and depth for setting tesserae. Students are encouraged to bring a drawing, sketch or pictures so to choose an image for one of the studies.
All materials are included. Prerequisite: Mosaic I (was Intro to Mosaics I), Hammer & Hardie Workshop (or by permission).
This is also offered as private workshop! Contact email@example.com for more information.
